Properta as a Legal Advisor in the Circular Economy Project of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment

Properta acted as a legal advisor in the Circular Economy Project (Consumer Trade) which was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, in partnership with the Finnish Commerce Federation. The project focused on three sectors of the retail industry: clothing and home textiles, sporting goods and household appliances. It included a legislative review related to consumer protection, intellectual property rights and data protection.

As part of the project, a playbook was released on 11 May 2023. The playbook provides information, solutions, and examples for businesses in the retail sector on integrating the sale, rental, as well as maintenance and repair of used products into brick-and-mortar stores, online stores, and digital platforms. The playbook includes a legislative section and tools for considering legal aspects in circular economy practices.

In addition to Properta, the project involved Tyrsky-Konsultointi Oy, Ethica Oy, and Y4 Works Oy. Properta had attorney Emilia Hodge involved in implementing the project.
